Community Bible Church in Omaha, Nebraska, has faithfully raised money for us the last two Decembers to drill two boreholes on the New Day property. As I'm sure you've heard on different TV documentaries, news reports, etc., clean water is something that can be difficult to find in Africa, but it is an absolute necessity. At New Day, we currently have 9 people + volunteer teams using a new, very good borehole, and 28 people and all of our animals living off of an old, barely pumping borehole! So we knew, as soon as the rainy season was over, it was time to drill!
A company came out and drilled 3 dry wells, which was quite expensive. After much prayer, we decided to choose another company, since each company gives you the first dry well free. This company arrived at New Day yesterday, picked a spot, and within an hour had struck water at 24 meters!!! They continued drilling down to 65 meters and this is quite the well! Our current "best" well produces 1/2 liter of water per second. This new well is producing 3-5 liters per second!! God is good!
Some workers run to get out of the way as the water starts gushing!
Wes & Blu were a little excited :)
Thanks to another generous gift we received last December, we decided to build one massive "water tower" for the entire orphanage. This will take our capacity for storing water from 40,000 liters to 70,000 liters! The crew has been here almost one month building, and they will finish early this next week!
Be careful Wes!
