Line's Trip to New Day

I have been waiting to post about Line, our volunteer from Denmark! Line grew up in Mapanza back in the early late 70s/early 80s when her mom led a women's craft center, teaching local women to weave and sew. Line lived here and attended local Chibwe Basic School when she was in Grades 1-4. She was so excited to get to come back to Mapanza and see her roots, but little did any of us know she would follow in her mother's footsteps and teach Zambians to sew! Line spent HOURS with our New Day kids, teaching them to hand sew Bible covers, backpacks, and purses! The kids will always remember their "Aunt Lina" from Denmark! Here are a few of the pictures Line took while she was here!

She taught the girls a Danish hymn!

Sewing material (chitengis!) ready to go!

Bible covers done!

The mens' choir at church

Dad preaching!

She also spent a lot of time in the mornings with our 4 preschoolers - Justin, Emma, Stanley, & Emmanuel!

Hard at work sewing!

Love this pic of the New Day library!

Little Lulu

Line also worked tutoring Misheck every morning during Math class

The Preschool Crew

She spent some time in Teacher Ryan's Tonga class as well, brushing up on her Tonga, as she was fluent as a child!

Christina working hard!

Cute little Stanley

Gorgeous winter sunsets!

The walk home from church

Cambree will miss her Aunt Lina!

Our Week

Our week was action-packed! Here's a glimpse of all that went on!

Monday was a quick trip to Choma to check on Mom & Dad's work visas! A trip to the post office also meant this awesome surprise for me!

Mom & Dad walking in Choma

Someone got a hold of my phone during Math class...

Hanging with Dad during Recess

See the stress on my face?? Caedmon made a genetics cross word puzzle for us adults to do - I got 3 out of 12!

Saturday = Cleaning Day at the Tidwell house! Thanks to Mama Dee for mopping!

Friday night is pizza night! Made this crust without my Kitchen Aid mixer as Blu is still working on it..

And then Saturday morning, my former house cleaner and nanny in Choma, Grenda, showed up after hopping on a bus with 2 baby rabbits to give us!!

Meet George & Snowball, who are now living in Cason't toy box...

The team men have been hard at work installing new kitchen cabinets, building the prosthetic clinic's roof trusses, and building the ceiling for Palace #2, while the women have been busy getting things ready for the New Day Garage Sale!

That night I went to take a bath and found this.....

Wednesdays are shopping trips to Choma for the New Day groceries - unloading is always fun with lots of helpers!

Happy July (and one August!) Birthdays!

This past Friday, we had our July Birthday celebration! Unfortunately, Aunt Staci couldn't be with us, so we'll have a post-birthday celebration for her in September! We also snuck in our lone August birthday, Mama Lala, since she won't be here on August 1st!

Christina turned 8 on July 9th! She wanted a "flower cake!" :)

Our little Emmanuel turned 5 on July 14th and had Batman cupcakes!

Mama Lala will celebrate on August 1st but she'll be in Livingstone, as she & Papa Wes fly to the USA on August 2nd! She had a cappuccino mug cake!

Machila turns 12 today, July 17th, and she wanted a Spidergirl cake!

She REALLY loved her new study Bible and leopard Bible cover!

Terry the Terror (ha! Just kidding!) turned 5 on July 4th and had Ninja Turtle cupcakes!
Mama Zelly turned 59 on July 10th and had a VERY chocolate cake!

Time for the water pouring!

Can't catch Christina!

Emmanuel wasn't interested...

Who is this masked figure?!

Uncle Blu caught Machila!

Poor Mama Zelly just stood there and took it like a champ!

We are enjoying a nice Sunday afternoon here as we relax and do some cooking for our American/Danish Fellowship tonight! Hope your Sunday is fabulous!
