After 14 1/2 hours of flying, 8 hours of layovers, and a train ride, we are in Switzerland! We are staying in the town of Horgen, just a little bit south of Zurich. Here are pics from day one!
First stop - Mugg n' Bean at the Johannesburg airport! This salad was YUMMY! It had bulgur wheat in it, which was delicious!
This is what Blu thinks of layovers..
A welcome chocolate from Swiss International Airlines upon arrival in Zurich!
Traditional Swiss food? Nah, let's start with some Burger King!
This is my happy face because we actually found the right train very easily!
Our hotel on Lake Zurich
After all that travel, I needed some Spark! (and a shower..)
These are the views from our room.
After a nap, we went exploring in the town of Horgen and found this Evangelical Reformed Church!
Blu liked the inside, but I preferred the beautiful cemetery and flowers outside!
It is pretty humid here, but the lake is gorgeous!
For supper, we hit the local supermarket deli for some (cheap) local foods - a tomato and mozzarella salad, pretzel sandwich, and cake!
It was almost 9pm in this picture but still very light outside! Blu said, "I'm on vacation." :)
Ready to board our fireworks cruise..
Hard to capture the beauty of the Alps!
Every 3 years, the town of Rapperswil (City of Roses) has a music festival that culminates in a huge fireworks show - tonight just happened to be the night, so we booked the fireworks cruise! We were blown away by the amazing 30 minute show set to music!
It is midnight here (same time zone as Zambia) and we are exhausted! Tomorrow will be a fun day exploring the city of Zurich!
