Panama Day 2!

We had fun in Panama City on Tuesday!  We slept in (YAY!!!) and headed up to the top floor of our hotel for a delicious buffet overlooking the city, and then decided to hit the city!  We don't have any huge, set-in-stone plans (which turned out to be a good thing due to the driving nightmare that is Panama City!), but we do have a few things on our list, so today we crossed 2 of those off!

Panoramic view of the skyline from our hotel room!
Somehow we forgot sunscreen, a hat, or sunglasses!  Oops!  Blu hit the streets this morning to find a hat!
I went to get a pedicure the day before we left, and it was SO crowded, so I went home and Cambree gave me a pedicure!!

Blu exploring Panama Viejo

A selfie in the old ruins looking out on the skyline!

The tallest tower at Panama Viejo

My favorite picture of the day!  Some of the old ruins of Panama Viejo, with the skyscrapers of Panama City in the distance!

Ha - this thing ran across in front of me and I almost DIED.

The view from the tallest tower at Panama Viejo

We navigated our way out of downtown and to the Canal!

We first stopped at a diner for lunch, but it was SO American, so we left!  We ended up at a little Lebanese cafe and got shawarmas (one of our favorite things from Zambia) - they were very authentic and very good!

A delicious caffe gelato while we waited for the ships to come in!  (My first coffee/caffeine in 5 months!)

We were sitting in bleachers in the shade with a group of people, waiting for the ships to come through!

Blu working in the simulation room navigating a ship through the Canal.  ;)

The Isola Celeste (an oil carrier) coming our way after being lowered into the lock!

This is a huge container ship from Germany that just passed through the 3rd lane!

Blu at the Panama Canal

Two catamarans passing through the Canal!

Here it comes!

Miraflores is the awesome museum/visitor center at the Canal, which opened in 2000.

This building is so awesome!  It's called El Tornillo - "The Screw!"

Headed to supper!

We ate at Costa Azul for supper - fried rice with chicken/shrimp..it was...meh.
