Leg Fittings
Cason wanted a picture with Mr. Mubun and his new leg :)
Can you say too many prosthetics around my house this week? Caedmon is walking around pretending to be lame and saving his money to buy a new leg, Cambree is putting fake eyeballs in her eyes, and here is Cason with a new toy :)
This is Boyce, one of the only two below knee amputees (he was bitten by a snake). Chris originally told us she could do 6 below knee amputees and 4 above knee amputees. Instead she had 7 above knee and only 2 below knee!
These are the crutches Boyce was using.
Giving Blu a smile after learning to walk with his new leg!
Posing with Dr. Chris :)
This is 15 year old Hampande. He had a tumor and his leg was removed in March of this year. Here he is at New Day waiting for his leg to be done!
Making some adjustments...
He's walking!
This is 36 year old Mooya, a mother of three. She was also bitten by a snake. Her husband is SO supportive and was so excited for her to get her leg!
This is much harder than it looks, and much harder than these people expected!
Blu has been great at translating for the patients and giving them pep talks!
This is Raphael. He is either severely malnourished or sick. He was the one patient Chris had said beforehand that she couldn't do, due to the size of his leg. However, even though we didn't call him to come back, he showed up. When Blu told him we couldn't help him, he asked Dr. Chris to come out and tell him herself. She took one look at him and said, "Ok I'll try!" Yesterday he was at the clinic at 8am ready to be fitted! He was SO excited. :)
His skinny legs are heartbreaking!
He was SO grateful to Dr. Chris :)
I have tons more to blog! Eye fittings are today, more leg fittings, plus John has taken some amazing pictures of the moon, people, etc.! But right now I am off to teach this morning, women's Bible study this afternoon, cooking supper for everyone tonight, and off to Lusaka early tomorrow morning to take team and Wes & Laurie to the airport! Busy at New Day! :)
