Super Summer 2019!

I LOVED going to Super Summer when I was a youth.  (I went to UMHB in 1994 and 1995, and Blu went to Hardin Simmons sessions in 1993 and 1994!) Super Summer is basically an intense Christian camp for student leaders in youth groups across Texas to come and meet other kids their age who are trying to follow Christ and to be discipled and then go out and share the Gospel.  Our kids had to interview to get in!  When we found out that Super Summer would be at Howard Payne University (15 min from our house!) we applied last Fall to serve on staff for the week!

A quick trip to Chili's before we got there the weekend before camp started for Leadership Training weekend!
I ended up serving as Treasurer, while Blu served in the Purple School (for kids who feel called into ministry).

Our dorm room for the week!

Purple School!  We hit up Goodwill for all the purple clothes we could find!

Caedmon was in Blue School (entering 9th grade)!

Cambree was in Red School (entering 8th grade)!

Cambree & Hannon - all decked out in red and ready to head to Super Summer!

The kids arrived on Monday - Caedmon's group was called Code Blue!

Caedmon & his youth pastor, Seth!

These two looking all cute!

Blu's school theme was "Planting Seeds" (farming), so they had outdoor games to welcome their kids!

Caedmon was the only boy from our church to go, so he had to make some new friends, which he eventually did!  But this is how he looked for most of the first day!

Ready to go in for the first worship service - it was HOT!

Cambree & Hannon's dorm room door!

Cambree, new friend Kirbee, and Hannon!

Most of the pictures I took were at Rec time every morning!

Cambree and Seth, who was her school dean as well as her youth pastor!

So handsome!  And purple.

Hannon's mom made their awesome shirts!

I enjoyed a week off from cooking!

Blu wasn't in his element at all...can't you tell??

Cambree with two other youth from our church, Mikel & Rachel

Blu got the opportunity to teach a few sessions as well!

The FBC Bangs youth who attended, along with Seth and Landon (our summer intern!)
We stocked up on decor, face paint, etc before Super Summer!

We all had a great time, learned a TON, and really grew in our faith - each one of us in different ways.  It's a lot to explain in a blog, but God definitely brought some clarity to us this week, and we can't wait to do it again next summer!
