2024 Book of the Year

I read 35 books this year, which is a lot less than usual, but my work life has gotten a lot busier!  Here are my pics for 2024!

Fiction Book of the Year - The Women by Kristin Hannah

A Review of Kristin Hannah's The Women

This book by Kristin Hannah was wonderful, and it has stayed with me a long time. I learned a TON about the Vietnam War and specifically about the roles women played.  It was a GREAT read!

Honorable Mention Fiction Book - We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

Book Review: We Were Liars | Mission Viejo Library Teen Voice

You know it's a good book if I read it and then almost immediately start it as a read-aloud to my family!

Nonfiction Book of the Year - Unstoppable by Maggie NicholsUnstoppable!: My Journey from World Champion to Athlete A to 8-Time NCAA National Gymnastics Champion and Beyond (Audio Download): Maggie Nichols, Simone Biles - introduction, Emily Pike Stewart, Maggie Nichols, Macmillan Audio:

Admittedly, I didn't read a lot of nonfiction this year, but I do love me some women's gymnastics, so reading Maggie Nichols story was fantastic. She is "Athlete A" - the gymnast who first blew the whistle on the sexual abuse by Larry Nassar of hundreds of girls.  It's a fabulous book of triumph.

Happy reading in 2025!
