Back in April, we booked a Christmas trip to Cloudcroft, NM. We felt like it would be a good time, after getting settled into school, running a business, and American life for the last 5 months. Also, our last family vacation as a family of 5 was Zimbabwe in April of 2017, so it’s been awhile! Blu has always wanted me to go skiing with him, but I’ve never been very interested. He finally convinced me to take the kids, and we chose Cloudcroft because it’s supposed to be light snow, and an easy place for first-time skiers and kids to learn! So we found an Airbnb in the mountains, paid half in April, and bought snow gear this past summer on sale! As it got closer, we were super excited, very ready for a break. But as we got even closer and checked the weather, we saw that huge snow was coming right in the middle of our trip there! Our excitement has exponentially grown the last few days! Here’s a look at Day 1! It included the 8 hour drive, a picnic lunch in Seminole, a look at our first date spot over 20 years ago at the Lamesa SkyVue Drive-In, and finally the arrival in Cloudcroft to lots of snow on the ground! We ended our day in our cabin, enjoying board games and good books! We have a plan for tomorrow, but with big snow coming tonight, we’ll have to wait and see what the morning brings! (This is the first time for me to blog from my phone so the pics may be in random order!)
