It'd been quite the chaotic few days here at New Day, mainly due to rains! I know our newsletter asked you to pray for rains, and you must be praying! We received 8 inches in 48 hours last week, which is great! But our bridge is not holding up so well. Each day is a mystery as to whether or not the bridge will be passable, not only due to floods but due to the large crack down the middle! Life here is certainly never dull!
We received #35 and #36 kids at New Day this week! These two siblings, Blessing age 3 and Steven age 18 months, have been in the works for us for quite some time. Their mother died last summer, and their grandmother had been caring for them. She brought them to New Day last year, but we told her she had to go through the proper Social Welfare channels. After countless meetings with Social Welfare and a court date, Blessing and Steven were signed over into New Day's custody! We are excited to watch them grow up in the New Day family!
Blessing with Christina, who was about this age/size when she came to New Day over 5 years ago!
Emma giving her new sister a hug!
Here they are saying goodbye to their grandmother and older sister in Choma
She adores Trevor! (and he adores her :)
Waving goodbye to her neighbors...be still my heart!
Steven is 18 months but is TINY, and you can tell he has been carried on a back for all of his life. He can barely stand and toddle a step or two, so please pray that he catches up quickly!
Meanwhile, no better way to break our 40 day sugar free challenge with cookie dough!
Always a little scary to look out my classroom window and see Blu and Trevor leading the Pre-K and Kindergarten P.E. class...
30 minutes with PreK = nap time.
Glory has almost surpassed Papa Tembo in height!
Our babies have new hairdos!
Did I mention it's been raining??
Mariah and Cynthia
Mom, Dad, and Danu!
A little pre-church baseball...in the house.
The boys LOVE Trevor (seriously...despite Caedmon's face!)
Trevor is currently conducting a sting regarding our chickens and eggs!
I did mention the rain, didn't I?
After the 8 inches, this is what the bridge looked like..
We have driven the minibus and the truck over. The bus is currently at Protashow's house on the other side and will probably stay there for awhile!
At this depth, you can hire people to carry you on their backs across the bridge. Don't hire Blu, who dropped Hildah!
When it's this full (12pm today), no one crosses! It's just a waiting game! Blu did swim across to get Protashow some money to go into town for supplies a few days ago, but it was pretty scary.
A week later, we finally were able to download the Superbowl and have our annual Superbowl party! The kids played the Star Spangled Banner (sort of...) on their trumpets!
Lots of yummy stuff to eat!
Go Eagles! (They won, in case you didn't hear!)
Mom & Dad ready to party!
Me and my man (men?)
These boys love them some football!
We also had our February birthday party - just Mweene and Kefbert this month!
A random dance party!
Kefbert turned 9 on February 11th!
Mweene turns 11 tomorrow, the 14th!
Aunt Staci and Luyando
