These pics are all in crazy order, but we had a WHIRLWIND trip from Jan 30th - Feb 3rd. We needed to meet with Lifesong in Illinois to finalize New Day's move as an affiliate with Lifesong for Orphans. Since Laurie's Nebraska memorial was also this weekend, we decided to combine it all into a massive trip to the Midwest!
Laurie's memorial service with Wes speaking
I am addicted to Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and their caramel apples (tiger butter is the best!) Anytime we are anywhere remotely north of Texas, I look for them!
Museum of Science & Industry in Chicago
The Bean!!
Millennium Park
This was THE GREATEST thing I saw. I was a HUGE baseball fan in elementary school and collected cards for years. I used to have a goal of traveling to every ballpark in the USA. Wrigley Field is a classic!!!!
I was literally more excited than I can describe!
Harry Caray!
At Lifesong headquarters in meetings all day!
Such a neat place!
Oklahoma...I try to love you, but alas, your highways....
Kansas - not much to see but a very decent tollway!
We had a VERY weird but awesome meal at Brother Sebastian's! It's a monastery-themed restaurant and we couldn't stop laughing!
Blu wandered through the whole place looking around!
I had SO many good mocktails this trip! I love when restaurants offer fun nonalcoholic mixed drinks! This was a pear mule!
Soooo strange!
Our waiter was dressed in the robes of a monk!
We had a good Chipotle-type meal with Wes (and the Holdaways) at Pepperjax Grill!
Blu shared just a tad about New Day with the church
We drove from Chicago to Omaha one evening and got in around midnight!
I slept through most of Iowa, and it was dark, but I'm sure it is a great state?
Crown Fountain in Millennium Park in Chicago
Famous Michigan Avenue!
Chicago-style deep dish pizza at Giordano's!
YUM!
Walking around Navy Pier
Famous Chicago hot dogs!
Espresso tiramisu and creme brûlée!
This was the BEST 4 course dining experience at The Lakefront Restaurant on Lake Michigan! The second course of seafood bisque was probably my favorite!
Our Chicago hotel was nice and we had a view of the Rosemont Theater from our window!
Me....very thrilled to be getting on an airplane....
Checking out downtown from Giordano's - this whole trip was magical! (except the 13 hour drive home on Monday...that was not magical...)
This was the WORST mocktail I have ever had - I'll never order anything with "blood orange" in it again!
But this was great! It's a nonalcoholic rose that was yummy!
This pizza was very different but pretty good! (Blu disagrees and thought it was AMAZING.)
Everyone kept telling us it wasn't cold for this time of year, but we FROZE! Blu enjoyed some hot tea on Lake Michigan (which seriously looks more like an ocean!)
