What's Up Wednesday!

What to do when you have an hour to kill before Body Combat.... What's Up Wednesday of course!

1. What We're Eating this Week

Ah...American food...After a weekend of eating out (Chick fil a, Applebee's, Starbucks, etc.), I decided to cook every night this week! Yesterday was crock pot roast with potatoes and carrots, tonight is tacos, and tomorrow will be some variety of chicken and pasta! Friday is yet to be seen but may be breakfast for supper - my fave!

2. What I'm Reminiscing About

October makes me reminisce about my childhood and Halloween! Some of my earliest memories are of trick-or-treating at my Grandma's house!

1988 at Grandma's :)

3. What I'm Loving

This right here. Les Mills Body Combat, Body Pump, Body Flow, and CX Worx classes at BFC every morning!

4. What We've Been Up To

Oh ya know...all those American things we don't usually get to do! Ballet, soccer, flag football, gymnastics... :)

5. What I'm Dreading

Watching the kids say goodbye to grandparents, cousins, and friends when we head back to Zambia on January 4th. I know it's still 3 months away but ugh...so hard to watch!

6. What I'm Working On

So I'm in the process of putting all 3 of my books into one novel with 3 parts and doing some major editing! Should be ready in the next month!

7. What I'm Excited About

T-20 Days until our Costa Rica trip!!!

8. What I'm Watching/Reading

Love this show!! Some fellow missionaries told us about this show, and we are addicted!! Tom Selleck is amazing...Donnie Wahlberg is amazing...Bridget Moynahan is amazing...it's a clean show about a police family in NYC. Watch it!

And reading Terri Blackstock's Moonlighters series

9. What I'm Listening To

I don't listen to much unless I'm driving, but my new favorite song is "At the Cross" by Chris Tomlin. I am also listening to a LOT of Audio Adrenaline's "Big House", as that's the song our New Day video is set to on this furlough!

10. What I'm Wearing

If it's between 7am and 1pm, then it's definitely workout clothes!

11. What I'm Doing this Weekend

My sister and her family and my parents are coming to Brownwood on Saturday to watch the kids' games and do some shopping! It will be our last day all together before my sister heads back to Zambia for their next missionary term. Then, on Sunday, we are traveling to speak at FBC Bartlett, TX and Immanuel Baptist in Temple, TX about New Day Orphanage!

12. What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month

Taylor Swift concert - Oct 17th in Dallas!

13. What Else is New

I'm in birthday party planning mode for Cambree & Cason's November birthdays - 70s disco and Ninja turtles - fun fun!

14. What is My Favorite Halloween Tradition

Costumes!!! I love my kids picking out costumes and dressing up - so fun!!

Have a great Wednesday!

Family Fun Weekend! September 26-28, 2015

We had such an amazing "Family Fun Weekend" this past weekend! First of all, we got all dressed up on Friday night to go and see Aunt Caity star in The Lyric Theater's Steel Magnolias production!

The kids loved picking out flowers for Aunt Caity!

Eating at Buffalo Wild Wings

Here we are at the play! It was so surreal going to see this at The Lyric, where my grandma used to go and watch movies as a teenager in the 1940s! (The kids loved it! Cason asked after the first act, "Can we skip it back???")

On Saturday morning, we got up and had Blu's birthday celebration! He loved his red velvet cupcake! :)

Presents to open!

Caedmon made him a card and got him some candy!

Cambree wrote the FUNNIEST song for him! (Happy Birthday Daddy...I suddenly feel like a hamburger patty...etc!)

Cason, all on his own, decided he wanted to buy Blu some new deodorant - I swear we smelled every single men's deodorant in Walmart until he found one that smelled like Daddy!

Money from Grandpa & Mama Dee!

A Greg Maddux shirt from me ;)

And Superman!

I already posted about our trip to Turner Falls, OK for his actual birthday, so now I'll share what we did today! The kids had a day off of school (teacher inservice), so we headed to Adventure Landing in Dallas for a morning of fun! We were pretty much the only ones there for 3 hours, and they have unlimited specials on weekdays!

Cambree loved the arcade, where she hit the jackpot on tickets!

First time to do batting cages!

Bumper boats!

Go-Kart fun!

Cason leading the pack...shocker...

We played 5 games of laser tag!! I should totally be in this picture since I was the family laser tag champion!! I LOVE laser tag!! Blu says I must have pent-up aggression, and he's never playing paint ball with me. ;)

3 hour drive home after a weekend of fun - exhausted! :)

Turner Falls for Blu's Birthday!

Blu is 34 today!!! We had his pre-birthday celebration on Saturday morning, and I will post pics of that when we get back home, but for today, we are on the road having our Family Fun Weekend for his birthday!! When I was young, our family went to Turner Falls, Oklahoma for vacation all the time. The last time we went was about 3 years before I met Blu, so he has always complained that he doesn't know anything about the Winsman family vacation spot! Whenever I suggest a vacation, he says, "Turner Falls!!" So this year, when I realized that we had a free Sunday and our kids are out of school on Monday, I asked if he wanted to go experience Turner Falls for the first time! The answer was a resounding yes, so our Family Fun Weekend was born!

First, we watched Cason play flag football (tied) and watched Caedmon play soccer (lost 10-0!!) before heading to our hotel in Denton. Between games, we grabbed some ice cream!

On the way, we stopped at Cabela's and had loads of fun! Blu used his birthday money from Grandpa & Mama Dee to buy a gun safe and a waistband holster!

The kids loved the fish!

After a supper at Chick-Fil-A (of course..) and a night at our Denton motel, we drove about 90 miles up to Turner Falls! We spent the day swimming, hiking, and being together!

The birthday boy climbing the rope up into a huge cave!

Caedmon & Cason enjoying building their own dam at The Blue Hole

The boys hiked for awhile with Blu while us girls got some sun!

Love this picture - Blu got Cambree mid-fall!

My sweet girl tired at the end of our day!

Fearless Cason led us on our hike!

Awesome cave! (with lots of spiders!)

Blu & Cason enjoying the ice cold water!

So weird to think I played at these same Falls as a kid and now my kids are here!

Heading out on our hike!

Ha! She had no idea!

Whew! It's hot!

Taking a break!

I was so excited and made everyone get out to take a picture!

Inside the cave

Awww.... :)

We ended Blu's birthday at Applebee's - our favorite American restaurant! It was a great day, and we are exhausted! More fun coming tomorrow!
